Configure Private DNS for a VPS
The Web Hosting Provider gives you an IP address for a fresh installed Linux VPS.
eg:
Hostname
server.sample.com
Primary IP
167.229.5.222
Nameservers
ns1.sample.com
ns2.sample.com
Step 1.
Go to registry of the Domain eg: GoDaddy
Go to Manage Domain DNS
Add Hostnames (just use the ns1 and ns2 as the names and its fine for both to use the same IP)
ns2.sample.com

Host IP Addres
ns1 167.229.5.222
ns2 167.229.5.222
NameServers :
Select GoDaddy (or registry nameservers) this means we will use their nameservers to point to our IP address.
Finally Go to DNS Records
Some information will be prepopulated from what is known already however you will need to create at least one A Record for the website (the first below is the one for web dns) and the second A record below is for the mail server which in this case is hosted on another server.

That's it! Congratulations you have configured your VPS to resolve with the Registry for Mail and Web Services.
